Everyone deserves a safe, healthy future.
But too often, barriers stand in the way. Greater Good Charities breaks them down—funding mammograms, building pet-inclusive shelters, supporting safe births—so people, pets, and communities can thrive.
Health and safety are interconnected.
Healthy people, healthy animals, and healthy environments all contribute to stronger, more resilient communities. Yet across the globe, people are denied the basic safety and medical care they deserve, whether it’s women without access to early breast cancer detection or survivors of domestic violence forced to choose between safety and their pets.
When critical pieces of the health and safety net are missing, people can’t reach their full potential. That’s where we step in—removing barriers, responding to urgent needs, and ensuring care reaches the people and animals who need it most.
Closing critical gaps in care
Breast cancer doesn’t have to be deadly. When caught early, survival rates skyrocket—but only if detection is possible. We’ve funded more than 16,000 mammograms for women in need across the U.S. and provided equipment in countries like Sierra Leone, Haiti, and Rwanda, where access to early detection is often nonexistent. We also have supported cutting-edge breast cancer research at institutions like Mayo Clinic and the University of Michigan.
Keeping families safe—people and pets together
Every year, more than 10 million people in the U.S. are abused by an intimate partner. For many survivors, the fear of leaving a pet behind keeps them trapped. With 65% of domestic violence survivors reporting having a pet, but nearly half delaying or avoiding leaving an abusive situation out of concern for their pet’s safety, safe shelters must include animals. We partner with organizations like RedRover to build pet-inclusive housing programs, ensuring survivors don’t have to choose between safety and family.
Supporting safe births and healthy futures
For refugee women on the Thai-Burma border, giving birth once meant dangerous conditions and limited medical support. Through our long-standing partnership with the Mae Tao Clinic, we’ve funded facilities and care that have already provided more than 674 safe births. With something as simple as $6, we help newborns receive Thai birth certificates—opening doors to healthcare, education, and legal work for life.
